Nadia is a female name that means 'hope', used predominantly in Italy, Spain, France, Russia, Portugal, Poland and countries in the Middle East, such as Lebanon, Palestine, Jordan, Syria, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Libya, Morocco, Algeria, Oman and South Asian countries such as Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and India. In some translations, it also means "house". Its origins are in the Slavic languages. Variations include: Nadja, Nadya, Nadine, Nadzia, Nadiya, Nadiyya, Nadija, Nadzeya, Nada , Nantia and Nadiyeh .
